Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Original Research Articles

Original research articles report substantial and original theoretical, empirical, computational, experimental, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method research in which artificial intelligence is substantively central to the research question, method, phenomenon, or contribution. Manuscripts should demonstrate a clear scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, and relevance to one or more areas within the scope of Artificial Intelligence and Global Futures. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening and, where suitable, double-anonymized peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Review Articles

Review articles provide critical, integrative, systematic, bibliometric, or state-of-the-art synthesis of significant areas related to artificial intelligence and its applications or implications. Reviews should go beyond descriptive summaries by identifying major theoretical, methodological, or empirical developments, unresolved questions, and meaningful directions for future research.

Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses provide transparent, rigorous, and reproducible synthesis of existing evidence on topics within the scope of AIGF. Authors should clearly describe search strategies, inclusion and exclusion criteria, analytical procedures, and relevant reporting standards. Submissions should generate substantive insights rather than merely catalogue previous studies.

Conceptual & Theory Articles

Conceptual and theory articles advance new theories, frameworks, models, propositions, or integrative perspectives concerning artificial intelligence and its technological, organizational, economic, human, environmental, regulatory, or societal implications. Manuscripts should demonstrate strong grounding in relevant literature and offer a clearly identifiable theoretical contribution.

Methods & Technical Articles

Methods and technical articles present novel or substantially improved AI-related methods, algorithms, models, datasets, evaluation approaches, analytical procedures, technical frameworks, or systems with clear scholarly relevance. Authors should provide sufficient methodological detail to support assessment, transparency, and reproducibility where applicable.

Perspectives & Policy Insights

Perspectives and policy insights provide rigorous, evidence-informed analysis of emerging developments, challenges, debates, policy issues, or future directions related to artificial intelligence. Contributions should offer a distinctive scholarly perspective and clear implications for research, practice, policy, governance, or society.
